I%26#39;m from New Orleans, but don%26#39;t have children, so my perspective is a little skewed when it comes to selecting/recommending restaurants to family members with kids. Large family group coming in town on Mother%26#39;s Day weekend, and were looking to make reservations for Mother%26#39;s Day brunch at Mr. B%26#39;s Bistro. An okay place for kids to eat? They don%26#39;t have a kids menu per se, but most places that I%26#39;d like to go have a nice bruch at don%26#39;t have children%26#39;s menus either. But, does anyone know if they would cater to kids%26#39; pallettes? I.e. scrambled eggs, bacon, or something kind of simple?
Along the same lines...any ideas for brunch with kids elsewhere?
Mr. B's with kids?I%26#39;ve definitely seen kids at Mr. B%26#39;s, and while it%26#39;s not the most kid-friendly place in town, they can be accommodating with special dietary needs, especially if you let them know in advance.
In the French Quarter area, you might also want to look at Palace Cafe.
Mr. B's with kids?I took my kids to Mr. B%26#39;s often as pre-teens and they loved it. Depends on the ages of the children as I suspect for younger ones it may not be the most appropriate choice. Also depends on the kid. Some are good in restaurants, some aren%26#39;t. I had one of each!
We%26#39;ve dined with our kids (now 13 and 7) in some of the cities%26#39; finest places since they were babies, and while the oldest now orders off the adult menu, the youngest goes back and forth between a ';kids menu'; and the adult menu, depending upon his mood and appetite.
If you%26#39;re researching menus online, realize that many places don%26#39;t have an ';official'; kids%26#39; menu, but will offer some off-the-menu choices. We were at Ralph%26#39;s on the Park a couple of weeks ago, and they offered kids%26#39; chicken, shrimp, or pasta.
When you make the reservation, ask them what choices are available for kids...and if it%26#39;s Mother%26#39;s Day and there aren%26#39;t any ';kid items'; available, you might want to re-think your destination!
