Dinner and Dancing?

We arrive in NO next week and were looking for nightlife options. We would like something classy but not stuffy. Fun, but not wild. Ideally we would like a place to eat dinner that has live music and the possibility of dancing.

Thanks for all the foodie tips, I made my restaurant list by reading through this forum in detail!

Dinner and Dancing?

I%26#39;d recommend Frenchmen St for live music and dancing - a bunch of clubs to choose from within a few block setting and walkable from the French Quarter.

Also, there are a few clubs in the Warehouse District - the Republic, Masquerade at Harrah%26#39;s, and the Metropolitan that are true nightclubs.

Dinner and Dancing?

Thanks for those suggestions. I%26#39;m not sure what constitutes a ';club';? Would there be seats and tables for everyone or would it be more standing around with drinks?

The nightclubs in the Warehouse District have both options, and the music clubs on Frenchmen have some common and bar areas with seating, though it differs based on the club.

If we were walking along the street looking at the different clubs, how would we know if they were a sit down and have dinner and listen to music kind of place or a stand around with your drink place? Would we have to go in and out of each one or do they have different designations such as club, lounge, bar etc that could help us figure it out? Sorry if I am being dense, I live in a small rural town that has no nightlife, so this is our first time trying to find a nice place for an evening of music and dinner and dancing.

No worries. You can pretty much gauge the place just by looking at it from the outside, and a lot of the places on Bourbon St (for example) have open views to the road, so you can see if it%26#39;s busy, if people are dancing - you can really decide without going inside.

However, at times some of the clubs charge a cover fee to enter, if there is a ';big'; act performing, but often, I ask the bouncer if I can just go in to check the place out before deciding to pay or not.
