Restaurant Report-Boucherie

Since FOOD is one of the popular subjects on TA, thought I%26#39;ve give a report on Boucherie. Went last night and loved it and wanted to share because I don%26#39;t think this hidden gem will remain for long.....meaning the low prices and BYOL. It%26#39;s on Jeanette right down the street from Basil Leaf, where Iris used to be. They do have a limited wine and beer (some great ones...Leffe, Duvall, Chimay)list but encourage patrons to bring their own for $5 corkage fee...GOTTA LOVE IT! Anybody know of other good restaurants that allow this? The guy at the next table had his jar of olives and flask.

Small plates we had blackened shrimp and grit cakes with a bacon vinaigrette($8) and fresh cut french fries with garlic butter %26amp; Parmesan Reggiano, it%26#39;s a big bowl full($4)-YUMMY! Large plates-BBQ ribs and striped bass both excellant. The portions were just right not massive and priced ~$11-15. For dessert we split Krispy Kreme bread pudding-$5....let your imagination take you there. Our total bill was $55.

Check out there web site to see if it suits your taste....boucherie-nola.com

Enjoy!

Yes, I%26#39;d also give Boucherie high marks. I ate there a few weeks back and thought the food was fabulous, especially considering the price. There were a few issues with the kitchen and food temperature, but I%26#39;m sure it was opening jitters more than anything else. I loved the iced tea and grit fries too! And the krispy kreme bread pudding was soooo good!

What is a grits fry?

thanks for this review - I%26#39;d been wondering about this place!! I%26#39;ll have to give it a try. Gotta love anyplace with a $5 corkage fee!

Grits fries: think of french fries, but instead of potato filling, there are amazing grits inside!

So anyone have suggestions of other places that allow you to bring in wine?

Try Eat Restaurant in the French Quarter! http://www.eatnola.com/

Thanks, we%26#39;ve been wanting to try EAT! We try to go to different places but are very fortunate to have so many to choose from. I know St.James Cheese Co.has a $3/glass corkage fee but it%26#39;s more a lunch place.

Have wanted to try 5 Fifty 5...online menu looks good but have not heard anything on it. Gambit%26#39;s Spring Restaurant guide is out today...just love reading and making my list to try.

Thanks!
