Anybody stayed at the Westin Canal, we stayed at the Sheraton last year and although the location was good the rooms were not that great.

Westin CanalThe WEstin Canal was formerly the Wyndham at Canal Place. It%26#39;s a two-tower shopping center. Shopping entrance on the Canal St side,and hotel lobby starts on 7th floor, inside the mall, or entrance on the ';back';, facing the Quarter, across from a parking lot,ndeserted warehouse, and near some rather seedy establishments across Decatur.
That said, if you go through the Canal Mall side,or takes cabs, it%26#39;s just fine. It was actually pricier than the other Wyndham properties at the time (I got bumped during the Wyndham Bourbon Orleans renovations (now also sold).
It is very nice,once inside the hotel part, and rooms. Not boutique-y atmosphere, more standard modern. One complaint, no soda or snack machines. The mall%26#39;s food cour must have a monopoly.
I haven%26#39;t been in the Sheraton, so can%26#39;t compare. They are an older chain. Like other threads here,if you want Canal St., try Bookit.com. Their 4 star mystery hotel is often the Astor Crowne Plaza. Compare online descriptions to deetermine.
