Best time/day for attractions? Streetcars?

We%26#39;ll be in town mid-April, Thu-Mon, and plan to visit as much of the city as possible. Lots of walking. Are there any days of the week and times of the day that are best for the recommended attractions (weekday vs. weekend, morning vs. afternoon)?

Two more questions:

How much of the streetcar routes are open, and are there any updated maps?

We want to visit some clubs, but are more interested in listening than drinking and are thinking more early evening. Any recommendations? We%26#39;re at the Drury in CBD. Are cabs the only safe way to get to-and-fro?

Mid-April, Mon-Thurs??? What dates exactly? Because French Quarter Festival is the 17th, and Jazzfest the 24th...so, plenty of events going on. Lots of posts here regarding streetcars, so maybe read some of those! Have fun, I%26#39;m going 17th-27th, and can hardly wait!
