Hi all NO lovers: My DH and I planned a 10 year anniversary trip to NO (our 4th) in Oct. of 2005 (Katrina year). Obviously the plans were changed. Fast forward to May 2009 and I will be 40. New Orleans is where we want to be. This time however we will be with a larger group and the Ritz Carlton is a bit too far away from the action. Please help. Where can we stay...a bit closer between Bourban and Canal, but same quality as Ritz Carlton? Please advise....from one NO lover to another.

Look into the Omni Royal Orleans and Royal Sonesta (both in the French Quarter) - not the same quality as the Ritz, but close. Also, look into the Club level of the Windsor Court - it%26#39;s in a good Warehouse District location, right by Harrah%26#39;s.

If the Ritz-Carlton%26#39;s two-block distance to the ';action'; is too far, I%26#39;m not sure there are any better choices except the Royal Sonesta, which is right ON Bourbon Street, or the Omni Royal Orleans and Monteleone, both one block over on Royal.

We did really want to be more between Bourban and Canal vs. Bourban and the back end of the Quarter. Obviously a 2 block walk is not a big deal. We%26#39;re considering Omni as an option. Thanks for the feedback.

You%26#39;ll enjoy the Omni. It%26#39;s a great hotel in a great location. Do note that the rooms are generally on the small side, compared to what you%26#39;re probably used to, but they are decent sized for the French Quarter!
