Parking in Quarter, and things to do around Bourbon St

My friend and I are going on a road trip, and we%26#39;ll be staying at the Ramada Plaza Inn on Bourbon St. for 2 days. We%26#39;ll be checking in around 12 or 1 am, and I know that Bourbon is closed to cars at night.

So I%26#39;m wondering how we can utilize the hotel%26#39;s valet service if that%26#39;s even possible. Or would it be better to find a private lot to park at, and if so where? We don%26#39;t expect to drive hardly any (staying on Bourbon St. after all!).

Also, what are some good things to do and places to see on and around 541 Bourbon (within easy walking distance)? My friend and I both love craft beer/microbrew, and we like pretty much all types of music if that helps.

I would use the valet parking at the Inn. Bourbon will be closed. I would turn on Burgundy and turn R on Toulouse. The valet parking is accessible from the Toulouse side of the hotel. Makes sense?

We like to stay at this hotel because it%26#39;s centrally located on Bourbon. After a long night of drinking I don%26#39;t want to have a long walk to my hotel.

We just wandered up and done Bourbon Street at night. My DH%26#39;s fave was the Bourbon Cowboy. The entertainment never ends! They have a mechanical bull.

The Clover Grill would be a great late night spot for food!

Have a great time. Look foward to a trip report.

If you%26#39;re coming on the weekend, you could find street parking, which is free.

Otherwise, you could park at the Harrah%26#39;s parking garage for free, with at least 30 minutes of play inside (slots count too!) and then walk or take a short taxi ride over from Harrah%26#39;s to the Bourbon St area.

pauliewalnuts, if Bourbon is closed and Toulouse is one-way, how would the valet get the car to the parking lot? Are you able to cross Bourbon, just not go down it?

Having our hotel close after a long night of drinking is precisely why we chose it. I can%26#39;t wait!

worldtraveler, I had heard about that. We might do that if the valet option falls thru.

Where would be a good upscale place to eat that doesn%26#39;t require dressy attire? My friend and I are T-shirt and jeans kind of guys.

You%26#39;re staying in the French Quarter, which is entirely a ';2-hour'; residential parking zone. Even if you find a parking space, you can%26#39;t be there more than 2 hours between the hours of 7am-7pm unless a resident gives you a visitor%26#39;s pass. The hotel won%26#39;t have these.

I know meters are ';free'; on weekends in some neighborhoods but I don%26#39;t think they are in the Quarter. Better check the meter before you assume it%26#39;s free.

Better to use the hotel parking or find a nearby pay lot!

Avoid the hassles and use the valet at the hotel-there is a lot at Iberville %26amp; Dauphine between 3 and 4 blocks away but I%26#39;d still go with the hotel.

You should be able to find street parking on the CBD side of Canal and Carondelet (Carondelet changes names to Bourbon). Then, you%26#39;d just have to walk down Bourbon from your car.

For places to eat, Red Fish Grill and Bourbon House (both on Bourbon St) are good restaurants that are a little more upscale, but still cater to the t-shirts and jeans crowd :)

Maison Bourbon (jazz), Funky Pirate (blues %26amp; R%26amp;B), and Fritzels (jazz) are close by.

Red Fish Grill and the Bourbon House are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks worldtraveler! We also plan to hit up Johnny%26#39;s Po-boys, Coop%26#39;s, Acme Oyster House, and Cafe Du Monde. My stomach is growling already.

cajunyank, when we%26#39;re not sleeping or eating we%26#39;ll be barhopping so we%26#39;ll definitely check those all out I%26#39;m sure. Any places in specific that have a great craft beer selection?

Why not hit up Frenchmen Street? Tons of live music and funky bars with great beer selection. It%26#39;s an easy walk from the Bourbon St. area, in my opinion.

Sorry! Forgot Toulouse is one way coming from Bourbon. Oh well. What to do now?
