Can anyone give me a rough estimate for a cab from the Place d%26#39;Armes on St. Ann to Jacque-Imos? Thank you.
cab price
I would estimate around $12-15 or so. It%26#39;s about a 15 minute drive from the French Quarter to Oak St.
cab price
I think it%26#39;s a bit closer to $20 once you tip. Also note that Oak is closed for several blocks due to street construction so getting to Jacques Imos isn%26#39;t as easy as it is normally! This construction will last several more weeks.
I saw in past forums that you can take the St. Charles trolley. I would assume you would do that in daylight hours. Is it a long walk once you get off the trolley?
If you take the streetcar, it%26#39;ll be a couple blocks to Oak St. You just have to go around the construction at the intersection of Oak and S. Carrollton, but it%26#39;s around 5-6 blocks from the streetcar line.
Where is all of this in relation to Magazine? I had asked in a previous topic about our going to Magazine St, so would it be a nice ending to just walk from shopping and then take the cab back after our meal? This would be during the daylight hours.
It%26#39;s quite a walk from Magazine St, and it really depends on where on Magazine you are. Jacques-Imo%26#39;s is right by the Riverbend, which is more like a 10 minute DRIVE from some parts of Magazine St.
May have to rethink this. I hear so much about Jacque-Imos and have always wanted to go, but not enough to spend as much on round trip cab as one persons meal. Of course, just as we never seem to make it to Magazine, we may end up where we always do, at Coop%26#39;s eating fried chicken.
Its just so confusing-I always want to go to places like Cochon (SP?), August, Stella, etc, but then you get down there and you just think I%26#39;ll spend that cab fare on extra drinks and stay in the quarter. Are there any comperable places in the Quarter? We have been to Muriels and NOLA, I have heard that some of the old school places aren%26#39;t worth the money. I don%26#39;t mind paying a lot for a meal if its good.
Well, Stella! is in the French Quarter, and both Cochon and Restaurant August are walkable from the French Quarter. Plus, there%26#39;s Bayona, Irene%26#39;s and Mr. B%26#39;s Bistro is the Quarter too. Plenty to choose from!
I went to Cochon last week and did not feel a cab was worth it. Mr. B%26#39;s Bistro is in the Quarter and was great!
I need to pay closer attention to addresses when I see restaurant reviews here on the forum. I didn%26#39;t know (notice) that Stella was in the quarter; I will have to look at the other two walkable options.
As usual, thank you all for such speedy replies.
