Luxury NOLA FQ hotel for first timer for romantic trip

I am finally making my first trip to NOLA with my husband. We are looking for a small boutique luxury hotel in the FQ. We would love a hotel that has a great courtyard and/or rooftop, pool, rooms with patios, etc, if possible. Nothing too dated, but we really would like NOLA style. thanks so much for the help. the rooms at Windsor Court looked a bit dated and read some reviews that they are looking a but shabby (and are being udpated in fall of 09). any other thoughts? considered the omni, ritz, and royal sonesta, too. thanks so much!

If you want to stay in the French Quarter, I would go with the Omni Royal Orleans, Monteleone and Royal Sonesta in that order. All three are classy hotels with New Orleans charm, but not too outdated. The Monteleone has a great rooftop pool and the must-visit Carousel Bar.

The Windsor Court is not in the Quarter, but nearby. Some of the rooms have been renovated like club level rooms, but they have a more modern feel to them.

I would highly suggest the W French Quarter then. I love the Royal Sonesta and Omni too but from your criteria I would suggest the W. Nice rooms with wonderful beds. Great bathrooms and showers. The courtyard is by far one of the best in the quarter and a great place to relax with a drink. They have a nice pool which isn%26#39;t huge but its heated. They also have rooms with patios too. Now there might be some negative comments coming up soon after I post this but I have stayed there three years in a row for French Quarter Fest and have had a fabulous time at this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful too.
