Pre cruise night in NO

Hi, I am with a group of 14 that are going on a cruise out of N.O. in late June 2009. We are staying right in the Bourbon Street area and I would like your opinions on the best bars/eaterys we should go to during our 1 night in town to get the whole French Quarter Experience.

BTW we may all be turning 50 this year but we can still hang with the best of you!!

Thanks.

I would say a visit to the courtyard at Pat O%26#39;Brians for a Hurricane. Maybe not the best Huricane there is but still pretty good. I like the courtyard area atmosphere.

To add to the Pat O%26#39;s suggestion, also sit at the revolving bar at the Carousel Bar at the Monteleone (a classier experience than the typical strip-bar joint!)

For music bars:

Blues:

Blues Club in the 300 block-72 year old Rooster from 5:00-9:00 on Fri-Monday.

More Blues: Funky Pirate for Big Al, Thur-Sat. or Big Willie Lockett Sun-Monday, 7:00-midnight

Even more Blues: Willie Lockett at Tropical Isle Beach Club, Fri./Sat. 9:00-until....

For Cajun: Old Opera House for the Bonoffs- Thur-Sun from 4:00 -8:00 or 1:00-8:00 depending on the day

Also for Cajun: Tropical Isle Beach Bar for Waylon Thibideaux- Thur-Sun 6:00-9:00 or 3:00-until depending on the day.

For early jazz/dixieland: Cafe Bienville courtyard on Bourbon, Fri-Sunday @8:00-midnight.

Piano bar: Lafitte%26#39;s

All of the above are on Bourbon, safe and easy to get to from wherever you might be staying.

Unique: Carousel Bar in Monteleone Hotel on Royal
