Omni Royal Orleans vs. Royal Sonesta

Looking for good location, nice accomadations. Any thoughts?

Omni Royal Orleans vs. Royal Sonesta

Omni Royal Orleans has the best roof pool/observation deck in the Quarter. It has an upper roof area where you can watch the Mississippi, see the sky line of downtown and CBD as well as see the entire Quarter...it is a real treat. The Rib Room is great and Touche (the bar) is a place where lots of locals gather.

The Royal Sonesta is nice as well, but can be loud depending on where your room is located. It%26#39;s pool is located in a beautiful courtyard area.

Another hotel you might consider is the Monteleone...a lovely old family owned hotel with a revolving bar...

All three of these hotels are well located, easy to walk from them to anywhere in the Quarter.

Omni Royal Orleans vs. Royal Sonesta

I would go with the Omni Royal Orleans over the Royal Sonesta, since it%26#39;s in a little more central location, whereas the Royal Sonesta is on Bourbon St and can get noisy. Both are excellent hotels, and you can%26#39;t really go wrong with either one!

Omni Royal Orleans seems very nice, however I have only stayed at the Royal Sonesta.

As long as you get a pool patio room it%26#39;s very quiet. Sadly I chose a Bourbon Street balcony for one of my trips and whereas it%26#39;s a blast to be able to look over everyone and throw beads, you NEVER get sleep. You may read this and think ';oh no it can%26#39;t be that bad'; BUT IT IS. It%26#39;s not even loud drunk people. It%26#39;s the police cars and service trucks.

Pool patio rooms are spacious, very nicely furnished, quiet, and get discounted rates when you pre-pay for the suite.

It looks like we can get a courtyard room at either place for approximately the same price (sonesta is a bit cheaper),as this looks like the best option for us based on concerns about noise. The balcony/streetfront rooms are slightly cheaper at omni.

If you had to pick one based on most luxurious, it seems like omni would win????

Oh, and I just happened to look at the Ritz. Similar prices. Anyone with info regarding this place? Thanks again.

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta March 16 -21st on the R Club Floor. Absolutely loved it!! The service was outstanding and the hotel is beautiful. I would definitely stay there again if we could get a good rate for the R Club which included breakfast and a happy hour in the afteroon. The rooms were beautiful also.

I know both hotels well. The Royal Sonesta requires, for our family, too much interaction with a very gross element on Bourbon, and the noise can be probelmatic, although I do like the Royal Sonesta, especially it%26#39;s gracious lobby and atrium-like space.

The Omni is ideally situated, but you can%26#39;t swing a cat in their regular size rooms. We always get a suite but they may be money you would rather spend elsewhere.

The Omni has a lovely rooftop pool, bar, view, and mediocre workout room (closet, really). The Omni has no real lobby, either.

I hope that this has helped.

I have stayed at the Ritz, too. It is run like a glorified Holiday Inn with an inconvenient and idiosyncratic floor plan. Inept service, too.

Omni rooms are so small, and paper thin walls. The only way I stay at the Omni is if we get a suite. I don%26#39;t know what your price range is, but Monteleone is much nicer all around, rooms, bar and even the pool is better.

Yes, Omni can have problematic noise abatement. The Monteleone, with a great bar, has pretty dated rooms, a lot of dust. Faded elegance, really.

Just came from a 6-day stay at the Windsor Court--we were on the Club level (a lot of amenities), in a suite, and the service was gracious and both inept and competent.
