Just wondering what the price for a dozen oysters is these days????
Acme Oystershouse
According to the menu on their website....$10.99 a dozen. Yum :)
Acme Oystershouse
Is there another restaurant that serves oysters and is better than Acme?
Yes! My favorite place to get oysters in Casamento%26#39;s Uptown. A dozen raw oysters for $9.
Cooter Brown%26#39;s Uptown at the Riverbend is another good place, and serves raw oysters for $8.50 a dozen!
Cheaper is better
Oysters at the oyster bar at Desire at the Royal Sonesta are great and no lines. Awesome bread pudding too.
JayMass: To answer your second question ';cheaper is better';? I would say that the better oyster counters in this area serve a good product, have frequent visitors and at a fair price. Prices can vary, so do not necessarily etch it in the favorite stone that those prices are the ones you will find, if and whenever you arrive at the particular place you decide to have your oysters.
There are places in the FQ that serve a good oyster, and there are places out of the FQ that do equally as well and some IMHO better.
The ones mentioned in the above posts, are all good.
Hope your oyster venture is as good as it could be, and your visit here even better.
A second rave for Casamento%26#39;s, which is open from September through May, and closes for the summer. If you%26#39;re in town when it%26#39;s open, don%26#39;t miss it. The restaurant is a New Orleans neighborhood classic.

The raw oysters are great, and the Oyster Loaf (fully dressed) is sublime. Go with a friend and split a Loaf, plus a dozen raw. Wash it all down with a beer or a long-neck Barq鈥檚!
