Trip Report 3/15 to 3/20

Just returned from our yearly trip to NOLA. Wonderful time as expected.

Was very, very busy. Busiest since pre-Katrina. Spring break time. It was wonderful to see even to wait in lines! We are happy the city is getting some business back.

Got in Sunday and checked right into the Place d%26#39;Armes. They gave us the same room we had last time as requested. Friendly and very helpful staff. There were 6 of us together with an elderly gentleman traveling with us. The receptionist there even gave him a ride to Pat O%26#39;s to meet us St. Patrick%26#39;s day instead of waiting for a cab. She was off and going that way. We were very pleased and grateful that she was nice enough to go out of her way for a guest. Won%26#39;t forget that kindness.

St. Pat%26#39;s Day..what can I say?? We caught the parade around 830 pm coming down Decatur in the Quarter. So much fun. Got lots of beads, cups, dragoons, etc. Lasted quite awhile. On the same note..caught a Second line Friday for a wedding.

Pat O%26#39;s was fun for the day with great drink prices and beads, hats and music.

Food...Commander%26#39;s was awesome as usual. This time met Miss Lallie sp?.

Glad we gave Deanie%26#39;s another try. Had the Large Seafood plate and split with 4 people. Wonderful.

Brennan%26#39;s fine..but really not as good as Commander%26#39;s Palace.

Tried Stanley for breakfast...Good, good prices and service.

Did Honey Island Swamp tour and it was great. Still a little too cool for seeing animals. Did see couple gators, blue herons, turtles and some beautiful swamp iris, georgia roses and snakes!!

Good time and the weather was great.

Lots of music in the square this year. AND we shook hands with Newt Gingrich across from Cafe du Monde.

I could go on and on. The people, the food, the music, the parade. wow..I love New Orleans and can%26#39;t wait to go back.

Great report, thank you. Glad you had a good time, and that everything went well at the Place d%26#39;Armes. I%26#39;ll be in NO for the 1st time in 17 days, woohoo, and I%26#39;m staying at the Place. can%26#39;t wait!!

NIce report-you can%26#39;t beat the Place D%26#39;armes. I didn%26#39;t know Newt was in town-he wasn%26#39;t playing a saxaphone with a hat on the ground beside him?

Yes, Stanley%26#39;s is terrific - have their Banana Foster ice cream dish, its delicious!

glad you had a great visit. I%26#39;ll have to get to Stanley%26#39;s, I%26#39;ve heard nothing but good things. Glad you went to Brennan%26#39;s even if you didn%26#39;t enjoy it as much as CP. Thanks for the report!!
