Monteleone or Royal Sonesta

I can get a good deal for 5 nights at either one of these hotels. We previously stayed at the Maison DuPuy which was very nice, but I prefer the location of the Monteleone and Royal Sonesta.

Which one should I pick?

Monteleone or Royal Sonesta

Try searching the New Orleans forum - use the search words Monteleone Royal Sonesta. There are two queries which match yours exactly and one is from 2007 which makes it more relevant than the 2005 one.

We stayed at Monteleone and loved it. Excellent location - just far enough away from Bourbon. Great character in the rooms and we loved the bedding, service, rooftop pool and carousel bar.

Enjoy!

Monteleone or Royal Sonesta

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta a couple of years ago (after Katrina) and it was the most luxurious hotel I had ever stayed at. I haven%26#39;t stayed at Monteleone but I hope to stay there someday! It looks beautiful. I think that either of them would be very nice.

That%26#39;s a tough choice.

I%26#39;ve stayed at both, and I don%26#39;t think I could recommend one over the other

They are both great hotels. You can%26#39;t go wrong either way.

I agree; that is a hard choice. Personally, I like the rooms at Royal Sonesta better, but considering the overall hotel and ambience, I would choose the Monteleone.

We are just home from NOLA and stayed 3 nights at the Monteleone, loved it!

Great location, lovely room and very friendly staff. Mr B%26#39;s across the street was a excellent place for dinner. Reservations needed.

We enjoyed the carosel bar, a fun place to have a drink and people watch.

We really enjoyed NOLA.

I am trying to decide between the two as well. I know they both have a rooftop pool, are there also bars by the pool as well? I am not looking for a party scene but if I am lounging, it is just better with a cocktail in my hands!

Monteleone had a nice enough poolside bar last time I was in town, and I hope they still do when I get there next Friday!

We were in NO the first week of December and stayed at the Marriott on Canal. Since this was for work, we didn%26#39;t have any choice. The room wasn%26#39;t much bigger than an oversized closet. Ok, maybe I exaggerate, but it was the smallest room I have EVER stayed in.

We are coming back for a few days on 5/9 through 5/12 and after doing a LOT of research here on TripAdvisor, we book a river view suite at Hotel Monteleone. A good portion of the reviews about Monteleone are very positive. The room rate was about average for that many squre foot. I%26#39;ve emailed the hotel with some questions and they have been prompt with their responses. I%26#39;m hoping that if they are this helpful BEFORE we check in, that it should be a good stay. Just looking forward to getting back to NO for a few days of relaxation!

Anyone stay there in the last 3 months. Some of these reviews are quite old???

We stayed at the Monteleone three weeks ago. We loved it. The rooms were beautiful and the roof top pool is a great place to relax (even it you do not want to swim). The ambience of the whole place was great.
