Hi This is my 1st time in NLO. We are staying at Harrahs because we got comped rooms. Has anyone stayed there? Is it close enough to walk to most shops and restaurants? How far is the airport to Canal St? Is a cab the way to go or is there some kind of shuttle?
Thanks in advance for any advise!
Kathy
Airport Transportation to Canal St.- Harrahs??
Yes...Harrah%26#39;s is one of the most beautiful property%26#39;s in New Orleans. The customer service experience is 5 star quality. Harrah%26#39;s Hotel is 1 block from the Quarter in a very safe area. The hotel sits across the street from the casino, there is a underground tunnel to walk and enter the casino from the hotel.
A taxi ride from the airport will be a ';set'; price approximately $20. Feel free to ask any questions, as I am a Diamond player with Harrah%26#39;s and stay @ this hotel at least once a month.
Enjoy!

Thank You so much for your fast reply. It%26#39;s great to know that the hotel is so nice. We usually stay at Harrah%26#39;s in Atlantic City. Where do you recommend that we request a room. Is there a certain section or floor thats nicer or quieter.
Thanks
Kathy
Great question!!! Facing the river above the parking garage. The view will take your breath away watching all of the Mississippi river barge%26#39;s @ the crescent turn. Too low of a floor and your looking @ a concrete parking garage. 2nd choice would be a high floor facing the French Quarter. The hotel has 21 floors. Anything 15 or higher should be fine.
Tell me more....interest, food types, drinkers?, culture, music, etc. When are you arriving in N.O?, i will do my best to create an awesome must see / must do New Orleans experience.
Chow!
Thanks so much for your great advice!! We are arriving on 4/26 -5/1. Hopefully the weather will be nice. I%26#39;m traveling with my daughter who is in her 20%26#39;s. We enjoy eating out in local places that you could recommend or any jazz clubs in the area. We are hoping to take some tours and see the sights, so we don%26#39;t spend all our time in the casino. :)
Thanks for the help.
Your questions have been answered previously. Use the search function with ';Harrahs'; and ';airport transportation'; and you%26#39;ll get oodles of info! :-)
Cab fare is $30, not $20. This is a fixed price set by the City of New Orleans and includes a $2 fuel surcharge which cabs may or may not accept. (They all do, in my experiences!)
Enjoy!
Since you will be traveling during a couple of the Jazz Fest days, katalina5, I%26#39;d suggest that you check it out! Thursday 4/30 may be your best bet.

Okay! To minimize walking use the streetcars. 1 block south take the streetcar from the Hilton Riverside landing east and get off @ Jackson Square. From Jackson Square ( cheap fare $1.25 per person ) the entire south area of the French Quarter is a easy walk. Cafe Du Monde, Coops Place, Pat O%26#39;Briens and the French Market are all an easy safe walk. Jackson Square, Decatur St, Royal St are all right there.
For a true New Orleans / southern experience walk 3 blocks north on Poydras St from Harrahs and catch the St Charles Streetcar to the Garden District. Here you will find beautiful southern homes, shopping, food, etc. A different view of New Orleans than the French Quarter.
Keep the questions coming!!!! I will be in New Orleans April 17-20th for the French Quarter Festival. The wife and I volunteer for this festival every year and work the booths.
Enjoy!
