Hi
In a few months time we%26#39;ll make the trip from NYC to NOLA by train (Crescent 19). We have booked a bedroom and such a reservation include some meals. However, we%26#39;re a bit unsure which meals. We%26#39;ll board the train around 2pm Saturday and arrive i NOLA Sunday (hopefully) around 7.30pm.
- Which meals will be included saturday and which sunday?
- How much can the temp. of the bedroom be regulated?
- Is there a fridge - either in the room or a shareable one?
Thank you!
Amtrak - New York to New Orleans
Wow, you must really hate to fly! (only 4 hours and the same price or cheaper).
I hope someone can give you an answer.
Amtrak - New York to New Orleans
Well I actually love to fly :-), but I%26#39;m going to fly a lot during my three-and-a-half week stay in the US and therefore thought a train trip would be a nice way to see the country.
Hope there is someone out there who can help me with my train trip questions.
This site seems to have the answers to most of your questions. It took me just a few minutes to determine that all meals are included in the price of the ticket for those riders with sleeping accommodations, and that there are no food refrigeration facilities available to passengers.

I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;ve ever taken Amtrak but it%26#39;s not comparable to European trains. Due to cost-constraints, distance, etc., the U.S. trains are pretty spartan. I%26#39;ve taken the train to Chicago and it was fine but I probably wouldn%26#39;t do it again.
Check the site Rod mentioned. Has lots of good Amtrak info.
Hi
Thanks for your answers.
I have read about the trains and delays - however, I%26#39;ll take it all as an experience :-D Having traveled the trans-sibirian railroad for two weeks, I%26#39;m prepared *lol*.
The Amtrak site is quite general. I%26#39;m sorry I%26#39;m so detail oriented, but if reading that page, there would be time for BOTH lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast, lunch and dinner Sunday. I would understand if thats not the case and I would bring some food myself, however IF all those meals are included, it would be awsome!
On the screen where you select your train, there is an ';Amenities column. Your clicking on the ';Dining Car'; link in that column generates a popup box which lists the lunch reservation times on Crescent 19 from 11:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and the dinner reservation times from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. No reservations are required for breakfast.
Again, for those passengers with sleeping accommodations, all meals are included in the price of the ticket.
Thanks for the great advice.
