French Quarter Festival with children

Hi,

We are planning a last minute trip to New Orleans during the French Quarter festival....is this an event that would be okay for children, ages 6 and 8...thanks!

A-Mama,

You%26#39;re in luck! This is my first FQF, and I don%26#39;t have children, BUT, I noticed on the festival map that there is a specific festival area for kids! Go to fqfi.org and click on their festival maps. You can also see that by the Aquarium of the Americas is the childrens%26#39; stage, where there is also kid friendly food.

Have fun browsing the map, great information for us first timers. Have a blast in NO, I know I will!

Yes, the FQF is completely family friendly! It%26#39;s a great venue for the kids with awesome food and live music!

Just HOLD ON to the kids. The crowds can be very intense if the weather is nice. Last year it was 450,000 people and it%26#39;s easy to get separated.

I think the kids will enjoy it and, too, would recommend checking out the children%26#39;s activities provided by the Festival.

Thanks - I am looking for a hotel walking distance to the festival %26amp; am looking for suggestions. We have Marriott points. We have found hotels in the warehouse district but would like to know if there is public transportation to the festival.

I have also heard there is a free ferry to the French Quarter but I am not sure what neighborhood to stay in to take the ferry. Thanks!

I believe the ferry you are referring to runs between Algiers and New Orleans. There are no hotels to speak of in Algiers, so that should not be a consideration.

If you stay anywhere in the French Quarter or Central Business District (CBD) you are in easy walking distance of the festival. Make your reservations ASAP!

I believe there are a couple of B%26amp;Bs in Algiers Point. Check out www.bbnola.com for information on this. No hotels, however.

There is a Marriott and a JW Marriott on Canal which is one of the streets that borders the Quarter. Both hotels are nice and within walking distance of the festival since it is spread out across the Quarter. I would imagine that most of the hotels in the Quarter are full by now.
