N.O. without seafood

My sister and I are visiting for the first time at the end of April and, though we%26#39;re from New England, we both (GASP!!) hate seafood. I%26#39;ve read the posts about all the delicious food in New Orleans - unfortunately it%26#39;s not what we like. Any suggestions for good food other than seafood? I%26#39;m sure we won%26#39;t starve, and there will be plenty of liquids for us!! Thanks!

N.O. without seafood

While seafood is plentiful here, there are beef, chicken, duck, pork and vegetarian dishes at most restaurants. It won%26#39;t be a big deal.

N.O. without seafood

Yup, there%26#39;s a ton of non-seafood dishes here that still have that New Orleans flavor i.e. jambalaya, debris/roast beef po-boys, etc. The muffuletta sandwich, for instance, is all meat :)

You%26#39;ll find plenty of options pretty much everywhere you go!

Ohhhh you%26#39;ll be fine! There is so much you can have that is not seafood... Muffaletta%26#39;s, Pork/Chicken/Duck, etc. dishes. Just about every restaurant will have something for you... Try Cochon, my husband is madly in love with their smoked beef brisket w/ horseradish potato salad ;)

Hi - originally from MA too and yes, I don%26#39;t like seafood either. Try Palace Cafe - they have a good gumbo ya ya (sausage and chicken); a fabulous pork dish and lots of other non-seafood stuff. I also like their brunch. Try Cochon in the Warehouse District - lots of pork. Acme Oyster has good jamabalya - no seafood. Try Johnny%26#39;s for a roast beef po-boy or Mother%26#39;s (yes, I know some of you locals don%26#39;t like Mother%26#39;s) for a Ferdi po-boy. Petunias for breakfast - love their french toast.

I highly recommend Cafe Adelaides for lunch - they have the best martinis for 25 cents - yes 25 cents on weekdays. Gumbo shop has many non-seafood as reasonable prices also.

Other places to try: Cuvee, Brigstens, Bayona, La Crepe Nanou, Emerils and NOLA%26#39;s.

You will love New Orleans - have a great time.

Go Sox! and Celts! and Pats!

Try the fried chicken at Coop%26#39;s or a bacon poboy-OMG it%26#39;s good!

Petunia%26#39;s for french toast or country style breakfast which is served well into the afternoon-my fav breakfast at a restaurant!

My friends adore Louisiana Pizza Kitchen.

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions. I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll be fine. Four weeks from today %26amp; we%26#39;ll be there - can%26#39;t wait. And to my buddy from the Bay State - you forgot the Bruins!!!

Sorry - I did forget probably b/c I%26#39;m not a big hockey fan.

Have a great time in NO - where are you staying?

My husband is not a saefood fan. He loves the roast beef po-boy at Acme and of course most of the best restaurants have a very wide menu. He has never been disappointed.

Hey Stacey-

We%26#39;re staying at the Hilton-Riverside. My sister has a conference down there Monday %26amp; Tuesday, then we%26#39;ll have the rest of the week to explore. Going to Jazz Fest one day - really looking forward to that.

Bun57 - You%26#39;ll like the Hilton and will love, love, love New Orleans!!
