Safe famiy-friendly place to stay

My family is planning a trip to NO in mid-June. I have two children ages 6 and 9. We%26#39;ll be visiting the zoo and aquarium, and taking a few tours. We want to stay in a safe, family friendly area. I think we%26#39;d prefer to stay outside of the French Quarter. We%26#39;re not interested in the ';quaintness'; of the hotel, just that it%26#39;s in a safe area, is clean and reasonably priced ($150/night or less). Any hotel suggestions? What about the riverfront hotels?

Try the Hilton Riverside or other hotels in the Warehouse District. There are some great ';family-friendly'; hotels here.

Your budget is definitely adequate for the summertime. I%26#39;d suggest the InterContinental, Westin Canal Place or maybe Loews.

We liked the Windsor Court. There were a number of famlies with children here this week. Ask for a room with a river view.

When traveling with children, I always want a kitchen/kitchenette. There is an Embassy Suites with great rates (around $100 on their website)in the Warehouse District near the Children%26#39;s Museum. I%26#39;ve never stayed there but you may want to get some local opinions. I would also make sure that it has a pool for summertime. There is also a Marriott Residence Inn near by which may work so you may want to check into that as well.

I stayed at the Embassy suites a few years ago with my family. We enjoyed it. There is a pool--a bit on the small side, but good enough for the kids to hop in and cool off.

I%26#39;ve never stayed there with the kids, but I have stayed at the Drury in a few times and always been satified. Their rates are usually good, too. They have an afternoon snack/drink thing which is nice for kids--I have stayed at a Drury in another city with the kids and that was a great opportunity for the family to relax and take a break. I believe they have a rooftop pool, which is the kind of thing my kids get a kick out of.

I have to second the RIVERSIDE HILTON. It%26#39;s kid frinedly, has a nice pool. It had places to get a quick sit down snack without leaving if you%26#39;re ';done'; for the day. It%26#39;s also just a very short walk from the Aquarium, Insectarium, Mississippi River, Riverfront streetcar line (stops right outside the door), and its just outside the French Quarter. IT%26#39;s at the foot of Poydras in a Cul De Sac..so there%26#39;s less street traffic.

Request a room in the MAIN TOWER if you go there.
