My DH is going to Baton Rouge for a business trip. I may go with him because I always wanted to go to Louisana. What is the drive time from the Nashville area? His business will be in the Bluebonnet Rd. area. I looked at a map and assume it is a pretty safe area, nice restaurants and what looks to be a big mall. What are some nice but reasonable hotels in the area? Are there things within walking distance I could do during the day? I know I can go to the mall, but I am not really a big shopper. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It is indeed a safe area, although there are few sidewalks, so you need to be careful when walking anywhere. There are four or five nice restaurants within easy walking distance. The large mall is the Mall of Louisiana. Directly across Bluebonnet from the mall is The Hyatt Place, a very nice, mid-priced hotel chain.
If the Hyatt Place doesn%26#39;t suit you, Siegen Lane is one exit to the south on I-10. Hotels at that exit are: Courtyard by Marriot and Residence Inn.

As usual, Rodin made some good suggestions. We also love Perkins Rowe for shopping and checking out Barnes %26amp; Noble, The Grape, Fish City Grill, etc. It is located south of the Mall of Louisiana. Across Perkins Road on Bluebonnet Blvd. (further south), you may want to check out Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. At Essen Lane exit (one exit over) is LSU%26#39;s Rural Life Museum. Alligator Bayou is great but further out near I-10 and Highland Road exit (you%26#39;ll need to call for directions from there.)
Lots of good restaurants near Bluebonnet/I-10/Perkins Road. If you need specific suggestions, just let us know.
Thanks for the suggestions. I don%26#39;t know if I will get to go this time, but he said if I can%26#39;t, we will take a family trip very soon.
