Kermit Ruffins not playing at the FQF?

I noticed when I was looking over the FQF schedule over the week-end that Kermit Ruffins is not playing? I thought he was a regular. I was looking forward to hearing him play.

He plays at a bar called Vaughns every thur. You have to take a cab, but only a 10.00 cover. I intend to see him on the 16th. He might be playing someplace else .. some other club during the festival. If he is I%26#39;d love to hear about it.

Yes, I know about Vaughan%26#39;s, but I%26#39;ve seen pixs of the place on TA, not sure I%26#39;d be comfortable going there by myself.... especially that it%26#39;s not close to the hotel and I%26#39;d have to cab it back and forth.

How long will you be in town? The Wednesday AFTER FQF, he is playing at %26#39;Wednesdays at the Square%26#39;, which is a fun (and free) event every Wednesday....

Darn, leaving Monday. Oh well, have to save it for a next trip. :)

Okay I admit the place is a bit off the track, and you DON%26#39;T wanna have to use the bathroom. But the taxi ride is a short one, and there are plenty of people there. I travel alone, and ';going to a bar'; is not usually on my list of things. I know it can feel akward to go alone..so I can understand. But! if I gotta go to a dive to see Kermit.. a dive is where I am gonna be. It is only a $10.00 cover. And from my experiance.. as long as you mind own business, don%26#39;t dress trashy, and don%26#39;t get bombed out of skull, don%26#39;t carry a purse, and take a cab.. OH! and of course.. just go for the MUSIC and not to wink';make a NEW friend';wink everything is fine... Personally, I feel safer going alone. Sometimes your friends are the ones that get you in trouble.

As for the bathroom,yeah, there was a picture of that too on TA, GROSSS!!!!!!

I might change my mind once I%26#39;m in NO, I%26#39;ll see. I don%26#39;t have a problem with going to a bar by myself, it%26#39;s the fact that it%26#39;s not walkable/close to the hotel thing. No easy escape. :) I just thought Kermit played at the FQF every year, so I had it in my head that%26#39;s where I%26#39;d be seeing him.

Well.. you gotta do what makes you comfy. There are plenty of cabs. You can wait inside till it shows up. All I know is I gotta go or I will regret it. I%26#39;ll let you know how great he was.. and hopefully won%26#39;t have any ';drunken-freak-o idiot bothering me'; story to tell. Besides I am sure there will be plenty of great music right in your hotel area... no sense going far when you don%26#39;t really need to. Toughest part for me.. is staying awake.. I am not a Night Owl.

Just READ that Kermit is not playing at the club Thur april 16. It says ';playing private event';(but lists the club for other thurs). Any idea?? what event that is? Seems like I might have to wait for my fourth trip to see him. (SIGH!)
