Review--little long!

HI!! Just returned from our first trip to New Orleans we were there 4/9-4/14. We were celebrating my husbands 30th birthday! We stayed at the Astor Crowne, which was great with nice big rooms and in a great location. We were on the executive floor which included daily breakfast and happy hour with appetizer each afternoon. A very nice touch!

When we arrived Thursday it was 1030am so we checked in early and headed to Coops for lunch鈥擜WESOME! We got shrimp po boys and cheese fries! Then we walked all over Decatur and made our way back to the hotel. Got some drinks along the way! Then that evening we went to Pat O鈥橞riens got some appetizers and a hurricane and a lightening鈥攏ew fav drink! (vodka oj and splash of red wine) Then we walked around Bourbon and took it all in!

On to Friday鈥攚e woke up early and went to the Aquarium鈥攇reat idea to be there for when it opened bc the line was huge when we left! Then we went to the Zoo- took a cab which was expensive but learned the hard way and took St Charles street car back! The Zoo was fun. We went back and took a nap and then that night we went to Delmonico鈥檚鈥攕o amazing! We got the BBQ shrimp and wedge salad and then filet mignons! Loved the food and the beautiful restaurant! That night we went to Harrah鈥檚 for drinks and gambling!

Saturday- in the morning we went to New Orleans Cooking School- which we enjoyed very much! The food was great and so were the cooking lessons! Afterwards we walked some food off and shopped! That night we went to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville- it was good鈥攏eeded some Mexican food and a margarita! That night went to Pat Os piano bar 鈥揳nd it is the best place!

Sunday 鈥揻or Easter we went to the Ritz Carlton鈥檚 Brunch鈥攁mazing!!!!!! The food and service were excellent! And the champagne was flowing! Afterwards there was a much needed nap and it looked like it was gonna rain anyway! That night if u could believe we ate again鈥攍ol! We went to GUMBO Shop- which we also loved- had seafood gumbo鈥擨 have actually never had gumbo-jambalaya or any of these amazing foods! Harrah鈥檚 again鈥攍ove to gamble! hehe

Monday- for breakfast we went to Petunias- good food but took 45 minutes to get egg! Lol Then we went to riverwalk shops and caf茅 du monde for a snack! That night after another nap鈥攚ent out tried Mr. Bs鈥攎issed dinner鈥攍ol! So we went to Dickie Brennans 鈥搗ery good food! Bourbon street it was and back to Pat os鈥攁nd some other bars along the way!

AS u can see we ate and drank a lot! We loved it! Thanks for all ur help planning!

Thanks for the nice review. We were there April 8-12, may have run into you in one of those bars, LOL.

Do you mind if I ask a few questions? Where is the New Orleans Cooking School? Did you have to reserve spots before your trip? What did it cost and what did you learn to cook?

Thanks for your report! It seems like you hit a lot of great restaurants (I%26#39;m not counting Margaritaville though :)

The cooking school is on St. Louis it was $48 for two people with the $6 coupon off website-- it was almost 3 hours long and they have a different menu each day. We chose Saturday bc it was Gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding and prailines!SOOO good--they served ice tea, root beer and Abita beers! It wasnt hands on but it was informative and they gave u the recipes!

We%26#39;re headed to Astor Crowne weekend after next and will be on the executive level. Are there free drinks and for how long? Thanks.

Thanks Jenny, the cooking school will definitely be on my To Do list for next trip, (hopefully June).

hey Cruiserohio--

Breakfast is from 6-10am--includes eggs, grits, bagels, pancakes, pastries and fruit. Coffee juice soda... then from 4pm-5pm-is cheese and crackers and fruit then at 5-8pm--they bring out different hot appetizers each day. Soda is free and ur first drink after that beers and wines r $2. Not bad!

I like Margaritaville. If you need a quick inexpensive meal then it suits the bill.

I will probably be visiting Margaritaville on my next trip...I know it%26#39;s touristy, but we don%26#39;t have one anywhere near here and my friend really wants to try it. Any suggestions on what to try?

go with apps (shrimp) and margaritas- then hoof off to eat dinner elsewhere
