Your own two dinner choices

What would you choose for 2 restaurants for dinner.

1. Great service, food, atmosphere ($40-50 per entree), basically a very, very nice, special dinner.

2. Not to be missed New Orleans food regardless of price, service, atmosphere. Paper plates, $10 entrees, whatever. Just give me a memorable dish.

Thanks!

Your own two dinner choices

hey just got back from 4 nites in no-

for question #1- 8 of us loved herbsaint on st charles- plus they had a fairly reasonable wine list.

for question 2- the crawfish pie at clancys was loved and devoured by our party. my mom (75 and a world traveller) said it was the best thing she evar had and went back 2 nites later and got it again.

Your own two dinner choices

1. I really like Muriels and Stella! for nice higher end dining with great atmosphere and food

2. Coops on Decatur for more local food with a definite cajun flavor. the staff can be surly, but look beyond that for fabulous food and friendly locals.

-k

1. Stella, The Pelican Club, Dickie Brennan%26#39;s Steak House,

2. Napoleon House, Coops, Maspero%26#39;s,Deja Vu, Buffa%26#39;s, Petunias, EAT, BonTon Cafe, Gumbo Shop, Cafe Amelie, Croissant D%26#39;Or,Irene%26#39;s, Olivier%26#39;s, Acme,

Deanie%26#39;s,Pascal%26#39;s Manale, Broussard%26#39;s, Red Fish Grill, Ralph%26#39;s on the Park, Sunday Brunch at Commander%26#39;s, 10 cent martini lunch at Bacco%26#39;s, Cafe Adelaide, Bayonna, Peristyle, and on and on and on...

some of these could also go on the list for #1)

1. Really haven%26#39;t been to any of the more expensive restaurants.

2. I would like to add Johnny%26#39;s Poboys to everyone else%26#39;s reccomendations.

1. Commanders %26amp; Mr. B%26#39;s

2. Coops for the mixed plate %26amp; Johnny%26#39;s po-boys

At Mr. B%26#39;s I wouldn%26#39;t miss the gumbo yaya, crab cakes, any grilled fish and the bread pudding.

Commanders specials and the bread pudding souffle (order it at the time of ordering your meal)

Coop%26#39;s plate thats the combo..jambalaya, red beans, etc.

Johnny%26#39;s po-boys for 1/2 catfish and 1/2 oyster poboys.

I haven%26#39;t been to the expensive places either, but two of my favorite places are Napoleon House and Praline Connection.

1). I second the Commnader%26#39;s Palace recommendation. I love the Crab and Corn Bisque and typically select the chef%26#39;s seafood special. Don%26#39;t forget the .25 cent martinis at lunch. Since CP was already suggested, I would like to suggest Irene%26#39;s Cusine, always wonderful. Love the escargot and the Artichoke Au Gratin are favorite appetizers. Last trip there I had a Filet Mignon with a Cabernet reduction and sauteed red pepper and onion topping that was nothing short of fabulous. Really nice wine selection too.

2). Lot%26#39;s of choices here. My pick has to be Frankie %26amp; Johnny%26#39;s on Arabella. It is a really cool neighborhood type Bar %26amp; Grill, with terrific food. I would choose a half a Muffaletta and if I was really wanting a huge meal, I would add Gumbo. If I had already satisfied my Muffaletta fix for the trip, I would choose a Po-Boy and Onion Rings. Their bread pudding is also really great.

1. Commander%26#39;s Palace, Stella!, Ralph%26#39;s on the Park

2. the slow roasted duck po-boy at Crabby Jack%26#39;s, raw oysters and oyster loaf at Casamento%26#39;s, bbq shrimp po-boy at Luizza%26#39;s by the Track

I usually don%26#39;t visit the fancier restaurants (I prefer casual) but we did try Mr B%26#39;s and loved it...especially the BBQ shrimp. The service is outstanding too.

As for the memorable dish, I would have to say Coop%26#39;s as well...I can%26#39;t stop thinking about the best fried chicken and jambalaya I%26#39;ve ever had!! My July visit to New Orleans seems way too far away. This is a must try!
