You're fave place to stay in French Quarter

and why?

You're fave place to stay in French Quarter

It%26#39;s a toss up between the Omni Royal Orleans and Monteleone because they are fantastic New Orleans hotels with lots of charm an amazing service.

I%26#39;ve visited friends staying at the Ritz Carlton, and I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s probably the best hotel in the Quarter, but I don%26#39;t like the location as much as the Omni or Monteleone.

You're fave place to stay in French Quarter

Of course, Place D%26#39;armes for the location near the square but quiet, near Muriel%26#39;s, near Cafe Du%26#39;monde, not far from Irene%26#39;s or Stella. Coffee and crossaints in the european cafe (free), people watching, hearing the cloppipy clop of the mule drawn carriages, and the nice courtyards and also close to Coffee Pot, Funky Pirate, Fritzels....

Good helpful and friendly staff-great old style New Orleans rooms.

2 places I can%26#39;t wait to stay at in the near future are Place D%26#39;Armes (for all the reasons stated above) and Hotel St Marie (location and the old New Orleans charm), but of the hotels that I have stayed at in New Orleans, I would have to say my fav so far is the Inn on Bourbon...purely for it%26#39;s location right on Bourbon st. When I go to New Orleans, especially when it%26#39;s a girls weekend, we spend a lot of late nights on Bourbon, and the location can%26#39;t be beat. The hotel itself, is ok. The staff are friendly, and I really like the pool and courtyard area of the hotel. I love that when we%26#39;re ready to call it a night, our room is literally steps away...very safe:) It%26#39;s definitely a hotel for those people who plan on spending their evenings on Bourbon, if not, then I probably wouldn%26#39;t suggest it.

I agree with dolmatt. As far as safety goes, definately the Inn on Bourbon. It%26#39;s nice to know I don%26#39;t have to walk past dark, empty areas to get to my room.I know I look like a tourist that has had too much to drink!

We stay in the Marigny area at a B%26amp;B called The Little Eazy. Private, quite, hot tub *grin* and within easy walking distance of everything.

It%26#39;s nothing fancy - it reminds me of the cabins we used to go to in Northern Michigan - but very comfortable and relaxing. One unit has two bedrooms and a full kitchen, the other has 1 bedroom and partial kitchen.

We%26#39;ve stayed there 4 times (5 after this weekend)and can%26#39;t imagine staying anywhere else.

And they are licensed. I know that can be a problem sometimes.

I like Hotel Provincial because it is close to everything, but still far enough away to give the feeling of getting away from the crowd. I love the quiet walk back there in the evenings.

Gotta say it%26#39;s Place De Armes. Great location, quiet and cozy rooms, beautiful courtyard, walk to everything. I love it.

Well we haven%26#39;t gone often, so I can only say we stayed last week at Hotel Villa Convento and really liked it.

What I liked about it was: reasonably priced, on a quiet street not far from Frenchmen%26#39;s Street or Jackson Square, friendly staff, lots of charm and character. Everyone I met while there seemed to be in love with the place. Oh and right across the street from a really good bakery. It felt very safe.

But its certainly not for everyone. Its not a 5 star hotel, its worn around the edges in places. I would recommend either a courtyard room or the third floor balcony rooms

I was just getting on to post about the Hotel Villa Convento too! I had debated it since, as you said, it%26#39;s not the fanciest, or most unique, but I do love that side of the French Quarter. It feels the most residential to me. We stayed here pre-Katrina on the second floor with a balcony room. It indeed was less expensive than some of the other places, and it is very small. But we just loved it and it has been owned by the same Italian American family for a long long time. The bakery across the street is great. Totally a different experience. It%26#39;s a little Fawlty Towers-like at times, but so much fun and lots of love there. I%26#39;m glad I%26#39;m not the only one that was smitten by the place.

I had forgotten about Hotel Villa Convento - I have stayed there several times and agree with the other posters. It is a very charming place to stay and the owners are the best. It was the first place that we stayed at after Katrina and we spent over an hour talking to the owners about their Katrina experiences. Also one year at Halloween we couldn%26#39;t find any place to stay in the Quarter, and we were able to snag an incredible rate as a walk-in at Villa Convento!!
