10 years and back again

It has been 10 years since my wife and I have been to NO. Here we come again. We will be there for a quick 3 night stay over Memorial Weekend. We are an active mid thirties couple who enjoy good food, drinks and music. Last time we were there did the swamp tour and the cemetary tour. Looking for ideas of new things to do this time. We enjoyed the food and are looking to enjoy the basic NO cuisine (any ideas). Also any ideas for the must see bars and music venues would be great. Thanks for any suggestions.

Please use the trip advisor search engine for new orleans and you will find a wealth of information on restaurants, tours, sightseeing, and music.

The Marigny section east of the Quarter has been the music center featuring snug harbor, spotted cat, apple barrel, DBA etc. A lot like the bloody mary voodoo/ghost tours or the tours by isabelle city or plantation tours. Many like Big Al at the funky pirate or jazz next door at Fritzels and of course Preservation Hall is still on St. Peters.

A good locals food spot is Coop%26#39;s on Decatur but check out the food listings with the search engine. This will narrow down perhaps your questions to specific questions.

The Funky Pirate. Listen to Big Al. My wife %26amp; I are in our mid 30%26#39;s also and we find that the crowd is typically in our age group. He%26#39;s amazing. Pop into Harrah%26#39;s just to say you went to the casino. Take a street car up to City Park. Go on a plantation tour. We%26#39;ve had some great meals at Frank%26#39;s on Decatur. You%26#39;ll have a blast.

Thank you very much for the feedback. We are looking forward to visiting your suggestions. Any special events in NO over the Memorial Weekend?

I think the New Orleans Wine %26amp; Food Experience is happening that weekend.

The Blues Club(in the 300 block of Bourbon, not the Bourbon St. Blues Club) for Rooster, Tropical Isle for Waylon Thibideaux, and Big Willie Lockett, Opera House for the Bonoffs, Funky Pirate for Big Al, and Willie Lockett, The Coco Club if Bryan Lee is playing.

Bacco%26#39;s for 10 cent martinis with lunch M-Sat. Maspero%26#39;s, Coops, Napoleon House, Johnny%26#39;s for Po-Boys, Chartres House for gumbo, Commander%26#39;s for Sunday Brunch, Adelaides, Bayonna, Irene%26#39;s, Stella, Dickie Brennan%26#39;s Steak House, Mr. B%26#39;s, Palace Cafe, Croissant D%26#39;Or, Muriels, etc. etc. etc.

Take the Parks and Rec. free walking tour from their site on Decatur. Take the St. Charles streetcar into the Garden District around dusk when all the wonderful old lights come on. Visit Audubon Park and observe all the beautiful old houses lining the park. Go to Audubon Zoo and see the albino alligators. Visit City Park and the Art Museum, ride the free ferry to Algiers and explore,go to Lafitte%26#39;s Blacksmith Shop, the oldest bar in America. Visit the oldest cathedral in America, visit the oldest convent in America, tour Mardi Gras World, take a buggy ride through the Quarter. Walk into the lower Quarter wander through the residential area. Visit the French Market and the exhibition at the Mint.
