Hotel St. Marie

Will be in N.O in mid-June. We have stayed at Iberville Suites many times, but really don%26#39;t like using The Ritz%26#39;s pool next door. We like to be outside by the pool or a quiet courtyard.

Hotel St. Marie seem to have a nice looking pool and courtyard.

Any helpful comments for this hotel or any other hotel suggestions. Thanks.

it%26#39;s an okay place to stay. Great location and very safe. The walls are pretty thin and there are large gaps under the doors but all in all not too bad. You get the best rates if you book directly with their site and the balconies are nice.

The OMNI on Royal has a terrific rooftop pool area. Great views of the entire Quarter as well as a large pool.

The Royal Sonesta has a charming courtyard pool area as does the W on Chartres.

The St Marie is in a great location, and it has a very nice and quiet courtyard/pool area...you can even request a balcony room overlooking the courtyard. Another option is the Place D%26#39;Armes. They are owned by the same company as the St Marie, but is in a more central location (right near Jackson Sq) and they also have a beautiful, quiet courtyard/pool area. Both would be great choices in my opinion. :)

Just to double up on the location and nice courtyard and pool and true old world charm especially as you walk down the hallways. The staff at the St. Marie also have been very helpful at all hours.

Also, check the Maison Dupuy - nice pool in the court yard and usually pretty good rates. We stayed at the W on Chartes last trip - and the pool area and courtyard are really nice and comfortable. The Omni does have the best pool area, but may be more expensive.

We have stayed at St Marie several times, (always happy there; location is excellent and the staff is nice), and once planned to use the pool. It looks better in pictures than it really is. There are only a very few lounges, seldom any sun and the pool itself was not really very clean. Also, be aware that the pools in New Orleans are not typically heated. We just returned from a trip and stayed at Royal Sonesta. the pool there is a lot nicer. While it is not heated, it is a lovely area and I think you are a lot more likely to enjoy an afternoon there. Additionally, there is no comparison when you compare beds, pillows, general condition of the rooms. Hands down, I would choose Royal Sonesta if I intended to use the pool.
