Hello! My boyfriend and I are newly engaged! We said from the very beginning of our relationship that when we married, we wanted to run away and not have a big, traditional wedding. Even though we haven%26#39;t set a date yet, I%26#39;m gathering information now for budgeting and planning purposes. We%26#39;re looking at several different cities with New Orleans being one of them! Neither of us has been to NO yet, but it%26#39;s a place we always said we wanted to visit. Our wedding will be small... we%26#39;re only taking three people with us. With all of that being said, I%26#39;m looking for suggestions for wedding (not reception) locations to accommodate small groups, ministers and/or wedding planners. As far as locations go, we%26#39;re into gardens or something fun and off the wall!
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! I%26#39;ve done some research on-line, but it gets overwhelming very quickly!

Congratulations! First, try the Maison Dupuy. They have a small, intimate courtyard that would make a great wedding spot. Also, look into restaurants: the Bombay Club is a nice venue, and Broussard%26#39;s has a nice courtyard!
Wedding
Thanks so much! The Maison Dupuy and Bombay Club have come up in all of my searches! Perhaps I should focus there for now.
The Bombay Club is a great place....very romantic. Plus, it has private booths for dining that are probably large enough to accommodate your small group for dinner.

I was married at the Maison Dupuy in May of 2006. Although I had about 90 guests - it would be perfect for a small wedding. The Court yard is very nice and the weddding planner - Nicole is very good. You said you are not having a reception, but I can tell you the food at our reception was excellent. I would highly recommend the Maison Dupuy.
I also looked into some other places - like a Victorian house in the Garden District - one lady was particulary nice - I think it was Bonnie%26#39;s House of Broll (something like that). That would probably fit your bill too.
I am attending a wedding in NOLA in late April, and they are getting married in CITY PARK !!!! They apparently have good facilities. So, sounds cheap, and pretty, and easy, if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for!? They have a web site for the city park, but check out my friends wedding site at ';peterandeli.com'; for more info! Congratulations, and good luck on the wedding and honeymoon plans, and the rest of your lives together!

We got married at the St Louis Hotel. Its not the best hotel in the FQ but we didn%26#39;t stay there. Just had the ceremony and reception there. It was wonderful! The ladies there were great to work with and very accomodating. As far as destination weddings go New Orleans is a great choice both for the location and the price. The food at the reception was amazing. We had a four piece jazz band that was really good. Everything just worked perfectly so I cant say enough good things about it. We looked at the Maison Dupuy and were going to book with them until we spoke to the St Louis. With your small group none of this may apply but just thought I would throw it out there. Congrats, good luck and if you have any questions I would be happy to help. :-D
If I had it to do over, and wanted something fun and crazy, I%26#39;d get married at Mardi Gras World!
I think that would be a blast!
My husband and I were married pre-Katrina in NO, and we had our reception at the Omni Royal Orleans in the Terrace Garden Area. They have a couple of rooms off the garden in case of rain and for food or whatever. I bet you could have the ceremony there as well. Our wedding was a little bigger than yours, but not more than 100 people. The food was great and the service was extremely attentive. I had my own personal attendant as well as my mom and my husband%26#39;s mom. We just did a reception with hors deovres and stations (and of course drinks) but we got tons of complimets on how nice everything was.
City Park was also one of my choices and Le Pavillion, if I remember correctly. They have a rooftop garden. We were married at Zion Lutheran Church which is on St. Charles, and my father in law was the minister there, so I have no idea as to whether or not they allow outside ministers. I think that they ';rent'; out the church for outside weddings, though. It%26#39;s not a grand cathedral or anything, just an nice pretty little church. I would reccomend a carriage ride either to or from the church. It%26#39;s a ton of fun to have everyone wave at you and wish you well!
My husband I got married in Audubon Park on April 12th, 2008. The flowers were all in bloom, we got married in front of a statue/fountain - it was perfect. If it is under 50 people, you don%26#39;t need a permit to gather anywhere in New Orleans. We got married the weekend of the French Quarter Festival, so there was a party atmosphere everywhere - it felt like the whole city was a part of our celebration!
We brought in our own minister; there are several online, I haven%26#39;t met any of them.
Tommy%26#39;s Flowers on Royal is an amazing little florist; Diane at Fat Cat Flowers in Mid-City did my bouquet - it was stunning!
Best Wishes, and if there is anyway I can help...

My husband and I were just married in New Orleans in March, and it was great! We had our reception at the Princess of Monacao Courtyard and Carriage House. Its a beatiful courtyard, and you can do your ceremony there. You might want something a little smaller though for only a few people. Check out the House of Broel in the Garden District, they have some pretty reasonable packages for small weddings. Also the Columns Hotel, but that is a little more pricey. New Orleans is a beautiful, fun place for a wedding. I would recommned you go visit if possible before making your decsion, that%26#39;s what we did and it really helped me get a good idea for what i wanted.
