Short June trip- Need Help - Thanks

Planning on taking my two nephews (16 and 19) for a quick trip to NO from Calif. Here is what I have planned but open any suggestions.

June 10Th(Weds): Arrive at 4 pm take cab(United Cab)into NO. Still looking for a place to stay. Any suggestions? Clean and safe, we are not picky. Take a Ghost tour. Lordchaz? Would this interest teenagers?

June 11th(Thurs): Check out French Quarter area. Maybe Mardi Gras world? Aqua.? Any other suggestions?

Go to Mid-City Bowl that night.

June 12th(Fri.): Thinking of picking up a rent car and going to Airboat Adventures and/or Honey Island swamp tours. Our flight leaves at 5:30 pm. Do we have enough time for both? If we only do one can we squeeze in a plantation visit?

Any good causal dining places we should try? Thank you for your help.

I think the teenagers would love the airboat adventure it is fast pace and the guides are really fun. Airboat adventures will pick you up at your hotel for a fee which might be easier that renting a car.

You would not be able to squeeze in both especially since you would need to be checking in at the airport at 4:30 and getting there in work traffic on a Friday. Very few places require attire such as jackets like Galatoire%26#39;s. Try the search feature for casual restaurants here on trip advisor.

I%26#39;d recommend staying inside the French Quarter or Warehouse District. There are a ton of hotels in these areas that fit all budgets. As for ghost tour, skip Lord Chaz and use either Bloody Mary%26#39;s tours or Haunted History tours. These are two great companies!

Mardi Gras World and the Aquarium are two great suggestions. The Aquarium also has an IMAX that is good to check out.

The kids might enjoy Airboat Adventures more, but they would learn more at the Honey Island Swamp tour. Very hard to fit in both in one do, but if you do the early morning tour of either, you could squeeze in a plantation tour, at least to Destrehan Plantation, which is near the airport!

Thank you for the information. Will check out the two ghost tours. How long does Mardi Gras World take to see? Causal dining- Gumbo Shop, LA Pizza Kitchen, Coop%26#39;s Place, and Johnny%26#39;s. Are these places decent? Thanks

Mardi Gras World won%26#39;t take you more than half a day (at most). Also, I%26#39;d recommend all of the above as casual dining places that serve up good New Orleans-style food. LA Pizza Kitchen serves some New Orleans-inspired pizzas too!

Have eaten at all the places you mentioined except the pizza place and all are good to great.

Having taken my teens and their friends, two 15yo and 2 18yo, they all loved the Haunted History tour and also the aquarium, with the imax. Another day we did the trolley to french market and looked around and got a couple of art prints as souvenirs. We would eat at what ever looked ';cool'; while walking down Decatur street for lunch, but for dinner I did Bubba Gumps twice,Hard rock once, and my daughter took her boyfreind to NOLAs for a celebration for graduation(i stayed back with the 2 15 since it was expensive). They both loved it and so maybe in the future will do that. The year before we also went to Mid City bowl and they liked that as well.

OH, and for hotel, we stay at Country Inn and Suites. Its 3 blocks from Canal street on Magazine Street, and turns in to Decatur street, which has all the restauruants and shops on. I usually get it for 4 nights, sometimes as low as 62/a night. WE only walk when we are there and have never felt unsafe. Add to that the great breakfast they have and with your 2 nephews, and that may save money as well. Have a great time. WE will probably be going again this summer as well.It is just a place we do not tire of.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone know of a hotel in the French Quarter or Warehouse District that has rooms for three people and three beds? Two beds and a sofa bed? Two beds and a roll away? Called Place D%26#39;Armes and Iberville Suites. They did not offer anything. When my nephews were young they didn%26#39;t mind sharing a bed. But at 16(6%26#39;3';)and 19(6%26#39;) separate beds is a must. LOL Thanks

Try the Hotel St. Marie for a rollaway bed.

Is the Place d%26#39;Arms booked because I just got one of their junior suites for the weekend of 6/19. It offers two double beds and a pull out sofa. That would seem to meet your needs.
