Shopping (not touristy or malls)

I%26#39;m interested in unique shopping in neighborhoods or districts, rather than tourist shops or malls. I live in San Francisco and we have lot of favorite areas (places locals go - The Mission, Noe Valley, Union Street). I%26#39;m sure the same is true of New Orleans. I%26#39;m specifically interested, women clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares...Thanks!

Royal/Chartres Streets for unusual boutiques, jewelry and antiques among some touristy shops. Riverbend, area, particularly, Yvonne La Fleur%26#39;s dress shop,(magnificent) and Magazine Street.

i love trashy diva (in the FQ and on magazine st.) for retro reproduction/vintage clothing... there%26#39;s also tons more great antiques on Magazine and a favorite place for unique jewelry called the Thomas Mann Gallery.

have fun!

Definitely head out to Magazine St - you won%26#39;t be disappointed. Lots of shops and boutiques and it%26#39;s where the locals go! http://www.magazinestreet.com/

Thanks everyone! It looks like everyone is in agreement on Magazine Street.

Magazine street is really long, though, just so you know! you may want to map out an area ahead of time or visit by car.

Be sure to eat at Casamento%26#39;s while on Magazine street.
